Mael Gael

The Mael Gael Project was established by SGSSS in September 2011. Since then it has gone from strength to strength, proving to be very popular amongst the local community. It currently runs a weekly (elderly) session every Wednesday, from 10:30am to 02:00pm, at Norwood Hall.

Over the last year or so the numbers attending have steadily increased. Initially when this project was started there was a very small group of people who got involved. However, that number has now increased to around 250 members and the good news is; it is growing all the time.

Mael Gael aims to assist in the health and wellbeing of the elderly, disabled and vulnerable.

Members have already benefited from numerous trips to the seaside, a variety of workshops on health and wellbeing together with advice on exercise routines.

Healthy cooking, arts & crafts and gardening projects are due to be added in the near future.

Mael Gael also supports a number of youth activities. Football for 7-10 & 11-14 year olds is planned. Freestyle wrestling training by a professional coach is also on offer. There are plans to form cricket & hockey teams in the near future (boys & girls).
